Online Training: Sea Level Station Monitoring Facility (SLSMF) API, with real-time and daily automated quality-controlled sea level research data
We are happy to announce online training event on the new Sea Level Station Monitoring Facility (SLSMF) API, with real-time and daily automated quality-controlled sea level research data.
Date: Wednesday, 26 March 2025, from 10:00 to 12:00 CET
Location: Virtual training course. Register here!
Speakers: Stijn Vermaere (VLIZ), Nikos Kalligeris (NOA), Marinos Chalarampakis (NOA), Francisco Hernandez (VLIZ)
Description: The Sea Level Station Monitoring Facility (SLSMF) of IOC-UNESCO, hosted at the Flanders Marine Institute of Belgium (Geo-INQUIRE installation ID VA1-25-1) has launched a new API node for accessing quality-controlled sea level research data to complement the already existing SLSMF API node for accessing raw sea level data with a 30 day limit. In conjunction with the launch of the new SLSMF API, a Github page is being published by the National Observatory of Athens (Geo-INQUIRE installation VA1-25-2) to host documentation and demo codes on the use and functionalities of the new SLSMF API.
Scope:
- Communicate the new SLSMF functionality to the community;
- Provide instructions on how the new API node can be used;
- Provide examples of applications that can implement the new API node in the near future to compare real time data to numerical simulations (e.g., Tsunami-HySEA) or other services under Work Package 5 (Access to the next generation of software and workflows as a service e.g., TS Gauss). More information aviable on the website: (https://www.geo-inquire.eu/about/organisation);
- Ask for feedback regarding the functionalities and the level of completeness of the new API (Application Programming Interface) node (beta version testers) to be considered for the next API version.
Prerequisites: Basic programming knowledge
Agenda:
- Introductory remarks
- SLSMF API end nodes
- SLSMF v2 API node for accessing research-quality sea level data
- Demonstration of SLSMF v2 API functionalities
- Presentation of SLSMF Github page containing documentation and demo codes
- Guidance on user feedback collection
- Future SLSMF developments
- Question and Answer Session (Discussion and feedback)
